What Comes Next

At the beginning of a new phase of his artistic journey, Mark is ready to take the next step after years spent on concert and theatre stages, both as an actor and with his own music.

This year marks the end of Mark’s four years at the High School for Art and Music at Hegelgasse in Vienna and an important chapter of his artistic education. During his time in the Polyästhetik programme, he had the opportunity to bring together music, acting, movement and stage performance. Through different projects and productions, he also discovered how naturally these different forms of artistic expression belong together for him.

One of the most valuable experiences this year was the entrance examination for the Musical Theatre programme at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK). The audition took place over several days and three elimination rounds, giving Mark the opportunity to put almost everything he had learned and worked on over the past years to the test: singing, acting, dance, musicality, improvisation and stage performance.

Mark successfully completed all three rounds, but for him, the experience itself was just as important.

“It was exciting to face so many different challenges within just a few days. One moment you are singing, then you are dancing, acting or improvising. I felt that I was using everything I had been working on over the past few years. It was a great experience for me and confirmed that this is a direction I want to continue exploring.”

Theatre has already become an important part of Mark’s life, but there is another challenge he is particularly eager to explore next: film.

“I feel at home on a theatre stage. I love the energy and the connection with the audience. But now I would really like to explore film. Acting in front of a camera requires something different, and that is exactly what interests me. I want to discover what I can do in that world as well.”

One of Mark’s next professional steps will therefore be finding the right agency to represent him for film and theatre. He is ready to pursue new acting opportunities more actively, both in Austria and internationally.

A new project has already brought a visible change. Mark recently cut his hair much shorter for the project, giving him a completely new look.

While a new chapter is opening in acting, Mark is also taking his music further. He is currently preparing four new original songs with full arrangements, which he plans to release soon.

This time, his creative work goes beyond writing the music and lyrics. Mark has also started working on the arrangements of his songs, developing them from the first melody and idea at the piano into the sound he wants for the finished production.

“Music and acting give me different ways to tell a story. I don’t want to choose between them. I want to keep working, learning and creating, and see where both paths take me.”
