In February 2025, Marko Dimitrijević, known artistically as Mark Bless, portrayed the role of Radius in the theatrical production of R.U.R. (Rossum’s Universal Robots), a groundbreaking science fiction play by Czech writer Karel Čapek. The play was performed by students of the BORG für Musik und Kunst Hegelgasse, Polyesthetic program, under the guidance of Professor Mag. Ute Bauer, lecturer in Polyästhetik Schauspiel.
The production was directed by Jakub Kavin.
Radius is a robot who evolves from an obedient worker into the leader of a rebellion against humans, symbolizing the moment artificial life gains self-awareness and demands freedom. The role carries deep philosophical and emotional themes—identity, control, power, and the line between human and machine.
In this performance, Mark Bless stood out not only as an actor but also as the composer of the play’s title song, which he performed live on piano. In addition to acting, he took part in stage movement and dance, adding artistic depth and dimension to the character.
This blend of acting, music, and movement made Mark’s portrayal of Radius a striking and complete performance—proving how creativity and talent can bring complex dramatic ideas to life on stage.
