In May 2025, Marko Dimitrijević, known artistically as Mark Bless, portrayed the role of Milan in the play Locusts (Skakavci) by Biljana Srbljanović. The production was staged at Theater am Werk in Vienna’s First District, directed by Marina Margo and presented by the Stanislavski Youth Theatre.
The play was performed in Serbian, with German surtitles.
Milan is a young man entangled in complex family dynamics, inner conflicts, and societal pressure. Through his character, the play sheds light on themes of intergenerational misunderstanding, fear of aging, and emotional distance within families. Milan struggles to balance guilt, obligation, and the desire for personal freedom.
The role demanded nuanced emotional depth, thoughtful stage presence, and a strong sense of character. Mark Bless delivered a powerful performance, skillfully capturing Milan’s inner turmoil and strained relationships with his family. Despite his young age, he convincingly embodied a middle-aged man with a wife and daughter.
Through this role, Mark Bless reaffirmed his ability to portray psychologically layered characters and connect audiences to deep, universal human experiences.
